Following the draw between Lanus and Talleres, River went looking for a win to reaffirm its position as sole leader of the championship and to keep its winning streak going. The team took the initiative from the beginning and started to threaten Argentinos Juniors. Agustin Palavecino, Milton Casco, and Benjamin Rollheiser dominated the left side of the field and set up good combination plays in the attack.

The shots on goal were struck from outside the box and that’s how the first goal was scored: Bruno Zuculini struck a great right-footed shot, beating Federico Lanzillota and opening the scoring for el Millonario, which controlled the game and had its defense practically undisturbed. Before the end of the first half, Enzo Fernandez almost scored the second goal with a left-footed shot that smashed against the rival keeper's right post.

Argentinos Juniors was better off in the second half, trying to threaten Franco Armani's goal, but el Millonario became inspired for a minute and scored: Palavecino made a great pass to Braian Romero, who served Julian a goal on a silver platter. On the next play, River's no. 9 set up no. 19 for the third goal, which started the party at the Monumental Stadium.

El Millonario was very calm as it controlled the game and it even had the chance to score a fourth goal in a one on one between Jorge Carrascal and the keeper, but the Colombian was prevented from celebrating. Thus, River now sits with 42 points and is nine points clear of Talleres, the runner up. On the next matchday, the team coached by “el Muñeco” will visit Estudiantes in La Plata.
