On Saturday, following the 1-0 win against Monterrey, the second of three international friendlies that River will play in the US took place and the team beat Millonarios 2-0 at the DRV PNK Stadium in Miami.

The team managed by Demichelis opted for ball circulation since the beginning and sought to penetrate the defense through the wingers. Using this tactic, the team had the first clear scoring chance in the 12th minute, when Barco entered the box and struck a shot that slightly deflected away from the goal following a great collective play.

Some minutes later, following another good collective play, Castro Ponce put the keeper to the test striking from the edge of the box. Almost at the end of the first half, Londoño nutmegged his way past his marker and struck a low right-footed shot that went just wide of the goalpost.

On the rival team’s only scoring chance in the first half, Quiñones went one on one with the keeper to be met by world champion Franco Armani, who had just returned to guard River’s goal. Mammana cleared the rebound on the line, which would have otherwise been the Colombian team’s first goal.

In the second half, with Paradela on the field, River kept trying to drive the play onto the rival side of the field and had some chances, finally scoring off a set piece and opening the scoring in the 59th minute: Barco struck a cross from the right-hand side, Zuculini put the keeper to the test with a good header, and Mammana collected the rebound to set the score at 1-0.

From then until the end, River controlled the game, being attack-free on its side of the field, and despite Peña Biafore being sent off after double, managed to widen the lead when Borja scored a penalty goal awarded for a foul on himself.

Thus, the team claimed a new win and kept gaining confidence and developing rhythm while preparing for the season’s matches. Next Tuesday, they will play their last friendly in the US, against Vasco da Gama.
